Fire and knife juggling is on the whole the same as juggling clubs once you get over your fears.
Fire
The first time you hold a fire club its going to get your heart racing. The first time you throw it and see how close the flames actually do get, you may well get intimidated. Here are some things to help you and keep in mind.
First off don’t do it alone. If you are not experienced with fire work then there is a large possibility that you could have an accident! This person is known as a spotter and should be on standby with a bucket of sand or water.
The hardest thing that I find when fire juggling is not the fear or anything but just being able to see the other end, the handle. As at night this is not best illuminated accept from reflections from the flame. You will begin to guess where and when to catch as sometimes this is the only way you can juggle. When learning to juggle with fire you should build up to doing it at night, first start off in the day and really get a feel for them. Then when you feel confident try and juggle as the sun is setting. This will slowly ease you into night juggling.
Knives
Knives scare me more than fire does, as I know that these things can really injure me, of course the fire wont do me any good if I mess up but I’ve never had any real injury from them. Knives are usually lots heavier that clubs and so can really hurt if they smack you on the chin. The only way you are going to get confident with these is to practice practice practice! I only try and attempt a trick with knives if I have absolutely nailed it with my clubs. Its true though crowds love to see these things, on the street all you need to do is lay them on the ground and people will stay. To non jugglers they are a much bigger spectacle than your clubs.
